- Brighton & Hove Albion's Chiamaka Nnadozie is the sole African player named among the 10 candidates for the 2025 IFFHS Women's World Best Goalkeeper Award.
 - Her nomination follows a year of exceptional performance, including her role in Nigeria's WAFCON title win and a historic move to the English Women's Super League (WSL).

Super Falcons' star Chiamaka Nnadozie has been officially nominated for the prestigious International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women's World Best Goalkeeper award for 2025.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who currently plays for Brighton & Hove Albion in the WSL, is the only African player to be shortlisted among the top ten candidates for the honour, which is determined by votes from a global jury of sports journalists and football experts.
Nnadozie's inclusion on the elite list, which features global stars like Germany’s Ann Katrin Berger, Spain’s Cata Coll, and England’s Hannah Hampton, underscores her phenomenal achievements throughout the year.
Her club transition to Brighton in the summer followed a sensational spell with French club Paris FC, where she was instrumental in their Coupe de France Féminine final victory, famously saving two penalties to secure the title in June 2025.
Her commanding presence and clutch saves in France earned her the 2024 UNFP Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season award, marking her as the first African to claim the honour.
On the international front, Nnadozie anchored the Super Falcons to a record-extending tenth Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title earlier in the year, where her consistent displays earned her the Golden Glove and a spot in the Team of the Tournament.
This continental success and her overall performance have also seen her widely tipped to win the CAF Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award for a record third consecutive time.
Furthermore, Nnadozie has already broken barriers this year by becoming the first Nigerian and African goalkeeper to be nominated for the Women's Balon d'Or Yachine Trophy, finishing fourth in the rankings announced in September.
The winner of the IFFHS award, which covers performances from January to December 2025, will be announced in December.
